3 commentsThe Original Facility Managers Were Considered Holy Men
This year I have committed to read through the Bible. I am using the YOU VERSION app from Life Church on my tablet
(android tablet that is). I have not missed a day and am embarrassed to admit how much I did not know was in the Bible. Kind of a sad commentary about my diligence in Bible reading.Well, this week I was reading the chapters in my “plan” which included Numbers chapters 2 and 3. I was clicking away…reading diligently, then I came to Numbers 3: 14-38. I had never seen this before. Take a minute and read this section HERE…I will wait.

Daughter responds with a sassy tort and disrespectful tone

Dad (that would be me) turns and gives the “death stare” and warns daughter to watch her attitude.
A couple moments of silence…then…REPEAT the above sequence.

No commentsAnd Then Some – One of the best blogs ever
Originally posted on Sep 18, 2011 at comperio C3
On September 13, 2011, Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church posted one of the best blogs I have read in quite some time. As many of you know, the “Cool Family” attends Elevation Church and our company serves as the facility
consultant for them as well. As a side note…Elevation Church was just listed by Outreach Magazine as the 2nd fastest growing church in America. Very COOL (pun intended) to be a part of this movement of God personally and professionally. But I digress…

No commentsThe importance of the church building is renewed (per Sam Rainer)
In a recent article by Sam Rainer (Sam S. Rainer III is the president of Rainer Research and senior pastor of First
Baptist Church Murray, KY…and his dad is Thom Rainer with LifeWay) in Church Executive, Sam lists out his set of 10 [unexpected] trends to surface in 2020. This was a very well written article…you need to read it. But I was particularly taken by this one trend relating to Church facilities…obvious a topic near and dear to my heart. This is what Sam said: - 15 Jan

No commentsGratitude
A Couple weeks ago, the teaching at Elevation Church really hit home with me. Pastor Steven Furtick preached a sermon that was not only timely but very poignant. The topic was gratitude…and his observations were right on the money.Let me share with you the highlights of this sermon. You can hear the whole thing HERE:
1. Gratitude is never invisible or silent. Gratitude shows up and/or speaks up
2. Gratitude sustains joy and blessing
3. Gratitude begins where my sense of entitlement ends (ouch). Gratitude is not based on “how good” your/my situation is, but rather how we see it.

7 commentsNew Reality of “Church Shopping”
I was blessed a couple years ago to serve Northridge Church (former North Baptist Church) in Rochester NY. I
developed a deep respect for their lead pastor, David Whiting, as well as many of their staff and lay leaders (like Kim, Scott, Steve and many others)I follow David’s blog and recently saw the following from him which really resonated with me. As I read it, I felt like David was repeating what I have been thinking and “preaching” for the past several years. Maybe I am not the only one that sees this trend. Here is it:

No commentsStrategic Outsiders – Part 2
Last week we started a 2 part series by Bryan Miles of Miles Advisory Group
Bryan left us hanging in the middle of an analogy…if you missed it (or have slept since the last post)…check it out here…then read on…
Part 2 (2 of 2)
You made a wise decision, you went with your gut instinct, and yet, you still needed help. What if no one from the outside came in to help?

3 commentsDo you rejoice when God answers prayer?
I was spending some quiet time this morning, thinking and writing in my journal (a daily part of my life for the past couple years) when I was convicted about not rejoicing like I should about some recent answers to prayer.Last Thursday, God answered a 2+ year prayer request…we closed on the sale of a second home that we have had on the market for the past couple years. Our family, friends and small groups have been praying diligently for this to happen. In fact, in my son’s small group from church, it had become so regular that the other boys in the group could recite the request even before Lee could get the words out of his mouth.

9 commentsCrystal Cathedral files bankruptcy – 10 Lessons To Learn
On October 18, 2010, the famed Crystal Cathedral, founded by Dr. Robert Schuller, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.WHAT?!?!?!?!
WOW -that news flash really took me off guard when I heard it. I first heard it on the radio and then researched it in the Los Angeles Times as well as other sources including the Wall Street Journal. I had the opportunity to visit the church in 1979 (yes…I am old) after the new sanctuary had been completed and they were installing the new pipe organ in the balcony. It is a spectacular example of modern architecture.
